In April 2020, we’re going to plant 600 more grape vines! We are going to try the variety Frontenac. Frontenac is a super cold-hardy hybrid. It will put on a full crop after seeing -30 F. It’s also a really heavy producer. Released in 1996 from U of M, Frontenac has been the workhorse vine of choice in cold regions for decades now. It is best suited for dessert wines like a port or sweet candy wine. Frontenac is also popular as a rosé .
Frontenac isn’t the only variety we are planting. Stay tuned for more variety posts.
